sounds like somethign i want noww hahahahahah the only tranny porblem i have is the hard upshifting around how much does the shift kit goes for do i have to buy the corvette servos to?
well i just saw the vid of the transgo installation and i got a couple of question, the shift kit comes with the 22 dolar valve that most people use to cure the 1-2 harshift?
adn around how much does a tranny shop charge to install the kit because honestly im not up to the challange.
The transgo kit comes with a different valve, but it does the same thing. It will cure your 1870 issues. (which by the way is a TCC lockup issue.)
I have no idea how much a shop would charge but it would probably ridiculous. I hadn't hardly ever seen the inside of an automatic transmission and I did my own...it was fun.
the hard shift from 1-2 will not nec. go away. BUT it will feel different.
instead of the hard shift you get like. its almost as if the tranny isnt working right.
the trans go shift kit gives you a STIFF FIRM shift. that is just crisp enough to FEEL firm. but soft enough to feel (sporty and not "my tranny is f***ing up again") haha.
i have the manual valve in mine. (so i can upshift and downshift as much as i want without damaging the tranny itself.) (when it was installed thats what the trany guy suggested.)
so
corvette servo.
transgo shift kit
manual shift valve.
trans cooler.
torque managment (disabled)
is what you need to INSURE a great a AUTO trans expierience.
so i would still need to get the 22 dolar? if i do get the trango shift kit would i have do some tunning like hp tunners or something? i kinda want the kit now i wanna feel the sportines hahahahah how hard is it to install the trans cooler

You're forgetting one of the best parts of having an auto trans; an aftermarket torque converter. A properly-sized stall will make it a whole new animal with a shift kit and bigger servo. With those, a cooler is a must. Personally, I wouldn't go with the manual valve body, but that's my own choice. HP Tuners would really bring out the most potential with these transmission modifications, but I wouldn't completely disable torque management.

Same situation as you here and I'm going to do the same thing. Shift Kit and "1870" valve.
im talking about (cheap things to do to get the expierience. but yea i guess the torque converter would come along with those other items. (that just involves COMPLETE removal of the tranny.
and NO do not take torque man. all the way off. but do take it down.
hp tuners is a STRONG STRONG suggestion regarding the tuning of your engine in relation to your tranny.
on a scale from 1-10 a tranny cooler is about a 4. you just can't be afraid to unhook things haha.
remember. NO MATTER what you do. YOU CAN NOT have a shift kit. WITHOUT a tranny cooler. if you do. DAMAGE is always imminent. thats a FACT.
also. another piece of advice =].
always use TRANS X!. haha jk jk. but (it actually does wonders with trannys. "went to autozone to see what i could get to reduce slip when i first got the car. they told me trans x. and it actually worked quite well.)

^ I have had a shift kit without a transmission cooler for ~2 years. No problems. Is it a good idea? Probably. Required? No. Also nowhere in the Transgo kit did it mention needing a transmission cooler.
Also you do not need the $22 dollar part AND the shift kit. The shift kit should fix your 1870 issues without that other valve.
I am kind of wishing I had installed a corvette servo when I did mine, but it shifts well without it. So again, probably a good idea while you are at it, but not necessary.
but if you drive it at all hard. then you will need one.
dgreet77, you are oblivious to the fact that tranny temps on the 4l60e is AMONG one of the highest in tranny operating temps. adding a shift kit. THEN driving it harder. (is going to give more heat. which means. MORE varnish on bands. which means SLIPPING> which means your tranny will just kill itself without the maint. and repair.)
sir. you cant see your tranny when your driving. but its a HARSH environment in there. ITS all smooshed together. and there is NO room for it to be cooled. so the ONLY means for cooling is through its FLUID.
and tranny cooler is a MUST for me in any vehicle. idc if its a honda civic.
itll have a tranny cooler. i have to many things to worry about. (i dont need my tranny failing from 'stupid heat' because i ignorantly decited that it would be jusssst fine without a tranny cooler)
(its like running a twin turbo setup without any kind of aftermarket coolent system)
(my moddo. "do it "right" the first time.")
