What year and type of transmissions can go in the 1993 Trans Am 5.7L v8 that originally had a 4L60 - direct bolt inLast edited by robinpugs06; 07-20-2009, 11:08 PM.

Just for kicks I called a local trans shop here and they told me that 93 and up TA autos all have the 4L60E. I would double check that though just to be sure. You can call a GM dealer and have them run your vin#. The shop quoted me $1700 for a rebuilt unit exchanging the old one in as a core. They also said you can count on replacing the trans mount on it. Hope this helps.

93s dont have 4L60E's. just 4L60s. theyre more or less the same trans, just the 4L60E is electronically controled by the PCM.
you'd have to wire it to work but its doable. probably better off finding a 4L60 though
current car- 95 Trans am- bolt ons, parked and collecting dust. why? because **** it
