Shifter light bulb out..how to replace?

The lights went out in my 2000 camaro V6 auto , in front of the arm rest . How do I fix this ? Thx in advance guys

On the shifter plate?...put the car in neutral pull that plate up, (might need a screw driver to CAREFULLY pry it towards the back of the car) and pull it up...don't have to take it off, but look underneath. There is a bulb that screws into a plastic piece...pull it and replace.

My shifter piece you can just pull with your hand and it comes out...not sure how hard yours is, so if you need that screw driver, just be careful you dont slip and scratch anything.

yeah thats right, put the car in neutral or just in 1st and have your foot on the brake or something.

Theres a c- clamp on the shift knob on the front side, pop that out and pull the shift knob out. Then open your arm rest console theres 2 or 3 bolts there to loosen up, after that you can lift the shifter plate up some.

Like letzride said theres a bulb right under the shift indicator thingy, pull that and replace it and put it back. I think its 192? its a smalllll bulb.

you dont have to undo any bolts or the C clip though...that plate will come off the console if you pull on it...it slides back and up...you dont need to take the shifter off, if you just bend your head and feel it out lol...Its just a bulb thats 1/4 turn screwed in...besides, I could never get the damn C clip out of the shifter....

take out the change/coin holder to access those bolts.

oh lol I dunno mine was dang hard to get out. and I got my c clip out fine I just couldnt find it afterwards cause it flew off somewhere haha.

I dont think so, cause its a part of the lower console, so when you remove the shift plate, the swing out cup holder is still intact and out of your way.

so i go from the bottom of the bezel trim and reach up to the shifter plate ???

Well if you can just pull on it and get to the bulb like letzride said if not just unbolt the shifter plate, change the bulb, and put it back on
