I know the window motors on these cars are notorious for failing, but today my driver's side window just stopped working without any signs of fatigue. My passenger side window is slowly but surely dying, but my driver's side seemed to work just fine until today. I rolled it all the way down without any problems, but now it won't even budge. I can hear it trying to work too, but nothing's happening. Just seems kind of odd that it stopped working all of the sudden instead of getting weaker and weaker like the other side's doing.
And to top it off, we're expecting like 10" of rain tonight and my window's still down.

Usually when mine starts to fail it'll get stuck like halfway, if you have at least some portion of the window still up, you can prob help it up with your hand while pushing the button up.
Just a though. Gotta do something before that rain!
what i have been able to do a couple of times before it finally went completely out was to take the panel off and put a brass rod on the motor itself and hit the brass rod with a hammer. might buy you a couple of months, but its defintately on its way out.

haha yeah I think I'll just get a new one instead of carrying brass rods and hammers around. I couldn't get a new motor tonight so I took this one out and picked the window up by hand, then put the motor back in to keep it from falling. What a PITA, took me over an hour and I scratched my window tinting :[
Anyone know how much these go for from advance auto parts? I saw them on ebay pretty cheap, around $25 each.

I got mine from pep boys for like 50 each, they came with 1 yr warranty on them though. Some ppl got some with lifetime warranty, I dont know from where.
ebay motors are a hit and miss. Ive gotten some from ebay where they last about two weeks, and twice I got one that lasted a good 6-7 months lol. And I use my window errday.
hmm, seems like it will be worth it in the long run to get the warranty considering how fast these things break.
Oh and it just started raining 15 minutes after I got the window up haha.

i got one off ebay about 5 months ago and its still working, its slow, but it think my car is just slow in general. The worst part is gettin the stupid motor riveted or screwed back on to the regulator. good luck with it!
I had an eBay motor that lasted me about 8 months. I've since replaced both with units from autozone that have a lifetime warranty. I think that was about 14 months ago and they both still work. I also have the autotrix kit on the passenger side. A worthwhile investment imo.
My passenger side window is slow as all get out. I take it this means one thing and one thing only, I will have to get a new motor for that window. As well as the driver side window rolls up and down great but does not seal at the top. Lucky the rain has yet to come in but when washing the cae it leaks in badly. So question about how long is the life line on these window motors?
