where can I get ahold of these for a good price? I've seen threads on mazda forums about guys buying em for 70$...I need to upgrade my lights badly...was on the country roads the other day, and to say the lighting was bad is an understatement...feels like its worse then last year (probably because they keep misaligning)

and then, what is needed in order to install them? is it just plug and play, they mount in no problem? or does something need to be modified?

    Re: Hella FF75 headlights

Here is a good thread to thumb through. I think I even mentioned how to wire and mount them in there, and there are also close up shots showing just how simple it is.

I got mine on ebay. I just did some searching around, and they tend to run around 100 bucks a set now. It seems that hella still produces them, but the price has been increasing significantly. If you look on the V8 boards, the older the thread, the cheaper they claim to have bought them. Some threads mentioned full sets for 30 bucks. Cheapest I found was $75 for the pair, and now it looks like ~93 is the cheapest, found here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Hella...s#ht_500wt_956

Last I checked, Autozone could order them for 114 a pair, and schucks/o'reilly's was 130 a pair.

It's worth noting that there are two versions, the driving lights and the fog lights. I've still been unable to locate a picture of the fog light beam cutoff, but found diagrams of the output, and if memory serves, the beam pattern of the fog lights was about 20 ft wide by 30 feet long, and the driving lights were about 15 ft wide at somewhere around 100 ft and extended to a maximum of ~300 ft. I have the driving lights for all 4, and the pattern is similar to the stock housings, just greatly exaggerated. (wider and much much longer)

I've read multiple accounts of people adding metal structural supports to increase the rigidity of the location at which they mount, but besides being a tad shaky over harsh bumps, I don't think it's necessary for the full utilization. If there is one thing I'd change about mine, I'd get a longer bolt to mount them with, so as to be able to use more washers to space them down closer to the stock location of the headlights. You can see what I'm talking about in the pictures in the linked thread.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Re: Hella FF75 headlights

I went through, but I didnt see any mention of how they were wired up...I saw what you were saying about the fogs and driving lights.

I think for the time being I will leave the stock fog lights...I am toying with just buying only the 2 driving lights, but I think its gunna look weird with the stock hi beams still in place (it does in your pictures.)

Was the picture you took with the two light colours, taken with the bulbs included in the hella package?

what kinda bulb is it? they say they are H7 halogens I think, but Im not sure what that means in terms of brightness.

I dont really care much for blue lights, or really white lights...I really care more for just lighting up the road so that I can see if I am going to hit something on it or running out onto it...

I found a set for $82 Canadian, I believe they should be the same... http://www.bosseuroparts.com/Hella_FF_Line.htm

I drive with both low and high's on since I put 6000K HID's into both and it lights up the road well and noone from the other side evens flashes me.

apparently the kit comes with a bulb...not sure on the size though...Im guessing that it is different from stock though...Gr8s' done it to his car, Im sure he'll be back in here before long...

                  Re: Hella FF75 headlights

Yeah, the bulbs it comes with are H7s. They are considerably brighter than 9006 and 9005 just from technology, or so I've read. They still draw the same 55W, but it's night and day compared to the stock lights. Yes, in the picture I had 6000K fogs and the regular bulbs in the FF75s. Since then I had white ones that matched, and eventually went to 4300k HIDs and back to regular bulbs in the FF75s for pure performance.

The link you posted looks like the right thing, just a place I didn't see, just double check shipping for total cost.

As far as wiring goes, I just cut the stock wiring harness right at the plug and spliced in a short length of the included wire to run positive and negative. Doesn't matter which side goes where as it's just a regular bulb, but I will note that you need a basic wire crimper/stripper to do the job as the provided connectors and wire are just raw material.

I wouldn't recommend putting HIDs in these guys, driving lights specifically, mostly due to the clear lens, which would spread light in all directions and be especially blinding, much worse even than HIDs in our stock housings. But I also don't think it's necessary, the provided bulbs are enough for me.

Perfect...I tried to email the site I posted and it bounced back...so I will just order off of the ebay guy you posted.

                    2 more questions

Did you have to screw into the car where the existing lights are to mount that unit?

and what type of bulb do you reccommend I put in the high beam lights to get them a little brighter and light up a bit more area...Im going with the driving lights for all 4...just I want a little more light out of the highbeams...maybe an HID bulb? I dont really care if the high beams are blinding, because they wouldnt be on unless no one is infront of me anyways...

                      Re: Hella FF75 headlights

Generally speaking, people will advise you not to use HID for high beams because most of the wear of HIDs is turning on and off, and there is even more wear when you turn them on and off again before they reach operating temperature. So due to the nature of HIDs, they aren't really suited. That doesn't mean you can't though, but considering they take ~30 seconds to reach full light output, they are not necessarily the best bet.

I currently use regular halogens that the kit came with in my low beams, and put Silverstar Ultras in my brights to have a little edge over the low beams. The main thing is aiming, and even with a standard bulb, these will light up the road farther than any factory brights I've ever seen.

As far as mounting, I just removed the sealed beams, and then removed the mounting mechanisms to make room, then it was just a matter of figure out what is centered and where you want them, drill the hole through the header panel and mount them up. It really was quite a quick install. It's just the one hole per light you can see in the pictures. And note that the washers I used were my own, they don't come with the kit.

ok sweet...do you have a link to the silverstars you use in the highbeams?...what colour is the light of the H7 halogens, its a white light right? not blue or anything like that?

Click here for the H7 Ultras. Half what I paid.

The bulbs they come with are a yellow-white light, just like your standard car headlight. They do sell a blue lens version of the FF75s that will turn the light very white-white... The silverstar ultras have more blue in the color, but by no stretch would you ever call them blue, just less yellow.
