  • HID Kit Help

So I just got my xenon HID kit installed it and it is not working. I was doing some research and found out some kits have the relay switch and some dont, my kit dose not have the the relay switch, is that why they dont work? Everything is hooked up I dont understand why they dont work, I have given them time to warm up and have even started the car and still nothing. Help!

I know some are polarity sensitive. Have you tried reversing the big plug goes from the light to the ballast?

            Re: HID Kit Help

Alright, another problem. Installed the HIDs today on my lunch break at work got the brackets secured and everything, so when I was leaving work I let the hids warm up a bit, just as I was about to leave I started hearing this noise it sounds kinda like a grinding, so i poped the hood started looking around and found out it was my windsheild wipers, they make like this noise and like twitch like every few seconds, when I switch to my high beams, which are not hids, my windshield whipers stop doing it they also stop when I turn them on. My volt meater reads normal but none of this happend untill i installed my hids. My kit has the bulit in realys. Why is this happening and how can it be fixed?

where did you get your kit from?

trust me, i've wrestled with these plenty of times, so i understand your frustration. recently i just put a kit on my jeep and my gf's explorer over xmas --- it was a breeze on hers and a pain in the @ss on mine haha.

                  I ordered from a company called IntenseHID.com.
It is a xenon kit, xenon bulbs and xenon ballasts.

                    Re: HID Kit Help

yeah i've heard of those, a bit pricey from what i remember IIRC.

i had better luck with some fairly cheap kits from american companies in california for my recent hid's and had no problem. i did have a 8000k kit on my jeep i tried a bit ago from a different company and the bulbs would flutter and pulse a lot and some of my interior lights were acting weird, i'm pretty sure it was a ballast problem.

i put in a new 10000k kit from the ebay company and they work perfectly and look fantastic. i would try switching out your ballasts if you're still having problems or convert to a new kit and save the one you have. i'll see if i can find you a link to the ebay site i got mine from --- i think the entire kit was like 60 bucks and its perfect.
