I went through my carwash at work and it destroyed my antenea, has anyone put a power antenea in a camaro before? will it fit? is it worth it?

    Re: antenea

I put a shark fin on mine.. Only one to do it that I know of. Some love it, some hate it.

But as far as your question, I know there are several at least on here who have done a power antenna mod.

Love the fin, you got a write up or thread you started about it? I've been wanting to do something different with mine other than just chopping it in half.

Didn't really make an install thread. Just fiberglassed the old antenna whole up and repainted the area, drilled a hole in the roof and ran wires to the stock subwoofer power and tapped into the stock antenna wires. I may have a couple progress pics if you want them.

Yeah man if you don't mind emailing them to me or just post them up. I found a couple on ebay and they're reasonable, not sure about my body or fiberglass work though. Any tips or suggestions there? If I recall your the rattle can king with the body work you've done on your car.

              Re: antenea

yeah, i don't use the radio too much so really i'm not looking to rewire things and such. I just considered the power antenea because then i dont have that issue of going thru car washes again.

Yeah, I have the black LED tail lights from eBay tinted black. Love 'em.

You can use a cut down stock antenna as well. I think I went through a car wash or two with my cut down stock antenna, and because it was so short, it was pretty rigid and wasn't affected too much.

oh did you buy the black tailights and niteshade them or did they come that dark? they look pretty dark in your picture.

                      Re: antenea

so if i just cut my antenna in half, it will still work and have decent reception?

                        Re: antenea

They came black, but the actual lens was 100% clear. I had them professionally tinted, but niteshades would work as well. The body shop just threw it in for free so I figured why not.

Yeah, the reception is decent. Not as good, but not bad I wouldn't say. And it should be rigid enough to make it through any car washes. You can also buy stubby antennas that are usually rubber coated and a bit thicker.

                          Re: antenea

Ya the stock antenea in my opinion isnt that great. Its o high, and does not go with the lines in the car. So i went to checker and picked up a $3 smaller rubber antenea i think it looks good. What you think?

But then i cant really put mine threw car washes cause the convertible so:rolleyes:

I think you need to color sand your car, the paint is very uneven.
