I just bought a head unit to replace the factory stereo in my 01' bird. It has the Monsoon system and I'm wondering if the factory stereo outputs to the speakers or is there a separate amp? I'm wondering because I'm afraid the new head unit won't be powerful enough to handle all the speaker.

just make sure to hook up the amp wire from the new unit into the power ant to turn the factory amp on, you'll be fine. -

the monsoon sound has a seperate amp, so you should be good.Comment

I'm in the middle of doing this. I've taken out the old head unit and noticed that there are two clips with wires coming out the back and the antenna. The new head unit only has the one clip..which I have the adapter for and am going to solder the wires together. But what happens to the other clip?2001 Firebird 3.8L

I'm thinking the second clip are for the controls from the steering wheel. It's the smaller clip that I'm questioning about for anyone familiar with or has changed out there monsoon headunit.2001 Firebird 3.8L

Sorry for the triple post. Now I'm reading it's a connector for the CD changer...I don't even have a CD changer.2001 Firebird 3.8L
