    Re: electric waterpump install

what about getting a slightly longer bolt and adding a nut on the other side?

If that will work then do it that way. Don't see why not. Just make sure you put some blue locktite on the nut so it doesn't vibrate loose.

well my temporary fix was just to slide a washer in the back area to align the alternator properly...that bolt doesn't really hold much anyways, it just aligns it more or less...there is too much tension on that bolt for it to wiggle loose...when the belt is on the car, it is a PITA to get it out, as soon as you pull it out the alt snaps down...

Try a Heli coil thread repair.

            Re: electric waterpump install

I think I would have to go to a bigger bolt...there is absolutly no thread left on the rear most alternator piece...like I can slide the bolt in and out without issue...but I dont think I can physically put a bigger bolt in there without drilling through the whole thing...

With a heli coil you drill out the remaining threads and install and insert that restores the original thread size but much stronger.
