  • brake lights not coming on

tried searching but didn't find what I was looking for...the brake lights on my 93 Camaro don't come on, including the spoiler light. When I turn my headlights on, all taillights come on and light up just fine. All my brake lights won't come on whether or not the headlights are turned on or not. Fuse is good. Blinkers are good.

Has this happened to anyone and if so what was your solution? I wonder if my brake light switch has gone bad. I tried screwing it in a little tighter, screwing it out a little looser, and it had no effect.

What do you guys think? Thanks for any help/advice.

I'd say it's more than likely the brake light switch on your pedal. They are pretty cheap IIRC.

Thanks Gr8. I'll swap it out and let you know. Oh one q...how do I know how far to screw in the new one?

Just trial and error. Basically you want it in far enough that you have to move the pedal slightly to flip on the lights, but not so close that it'll flicker with vibration.

I was just about to head out to the parts store to get a new brake switch but decided to double check my fuses, just in case I missed something. Turns out I was looking at the TAILLTS fuse and NOT the STOP/HAZARD fuse. Sure enough, the STOP/HAZARD fuse was blown. Put a 20 amp fuse in there and voila, brake lights work.

Here's an Instrument Panel fuse block diagram for a 93 Camaro:
