  • Update: Water in the turn signal housing

Here's an update on the progress of repairing my front turn signal socket..

As it turns out, the burned out socket was not the only problem. Apparently water was leaking inside of the housing and killing my bulbs. I though that the the socket was fastened into the housing properly each time I replaced the bulb, but something is wrong and the socket will not lock into the housing properly. When it appears to be fastened/tightened properly, there is a small area around the gasket that would allow water to leak through. The gasket around the socket appears to be in good condition. I found an F-Body at the local pull & save that had good sockets, and I sodered the wires together and replaced them. I was still having the same problem with the socket not fastening properly. I could not find any reason why I was having this problem. Everything seems to be in good condition but the socket just won't fasten tightly into the housing.

Has anyone else ever encountered this problem and have a solution to repair it?

    Thanks, Joe.

    so you replaced the socket/housing??

if you did and are still having the same problem, then maybe a little teflon tape might help...

Correct, I replaced the original burned out socket. I honestly can't figure out what the problem is. I need to take pictures.
