  • Flashing brights mod?

Does anyone know of a mod that can be done to a 2001 camaro to be able to flash the brights in the day like on any other car without the lights having to be on?

First why flash the brights during the day, its not a emergency vehicle, second really no point in doing it, thats why no one has done it before. You would need flasher relays and rewiring to make flash without having the lights on all the time but is also illegal in some states. I have mine where I can run both low and high's at the same time but my low and highs are both 6000K HID's(PIC in Avitar) which light up the road enough for me so I don't really need high beams.

i think he is talking about being able to flash your high beams at people to let them know you are letting them turn

Yeah, he's thinking of flash to pass.

Haven't heard of anyone doing the mod...

I would just leave the high beams on then when you want to use them to flash just flip them on and off. No need to do any modding.

                Agreed

However, the high/low beam switch isn't exactly a design win is it?

                  Re: Flashing brights mod?

Flashing your brights at someone is a really needful thing. For example, letting someone turn or letting them know that there is police ahead or whatever.. and here in Europe it is used a lot. Flipping the lights on and off all the time is not really practical.

ssms5411 - How can I do this with flasher relays and rewiring as you said?

                  Thanks

Here I don't warn anyone of the Police ahead, if their speeding then they should be caught or have a radar detector. LOL Thats my view anyway. For getting peoples attention duriing the day I will honk once twice to let them go and a long honk to let them know not too. At night I will just hit the highs on to let them know. But flashers would be setup the same as on a police car, I have seen a website that sells emergency equip. for vehicles, some of the Reserve Police Officers and Possie members we had in the Academy, wired their vehicles up with sealth red & blue lights and did their headlights so they would flash side to side and brights on/off, left to right. Its real popular with the County Deputies in AZ who work as a Reserve or in the Possie. I'll see if I can find it since I'll be up late.

I don't think you'd need any flasher relays or anything like that unless you wanted to be able to turn the brights on and have them flash on their own like hazards... if that's what you want you can find kits on JCwhitney. If you want to be able to just click them on and off without having to turn the headlights on, it would take some re-wiring. The lights only get power when the headlight switch is turned on, so you'd have to run a jumper so that the brights get power whenever the car's on. I don't know specifically which wires etc. but if you get a haynes manual and flip to the back there are detailed wiring diagrams that will give you a better idea

Yes T-Mill that's what I want. I want to rewire them to have power all the time and be able to click them on and off without the headlights on.

I have seen a brand new Crown Vic and Charger be converted over to be a Police car, the mechaincs would have it for a week or 2 for wiring and to install the cage, shotgun holder and trunk mounts for equipment. They do alot off work on them thats for sure. I have seen the graveyard too where the ones have been in accidents of just smashed up bad.

I'm gonna be putting in halos, the R8 ones with the leds and I guess I'll wire the R8 leds to be able to flash them with a switch right by the turn signal switch instead of clicking the brights.
