My Monsoon is 100% stock - I've blown out the sail panel "subwoofers" so many times, I've lost count. They sound great - until I accidentally blast them with one thing or another - and then it is back to the drawing board.

Re: Replacomig the Monsoon sail panel speakers - yet again
You guys answered your own questions.
Let's think here:
I could
A -Buy new Monsoon speakers and simply replace the existing speakers. They'd be good for another two years until I blow them out again. Then again, the car is going on 11 years old, 185, 000 miles - there may not be two more years.
B. Find shallow mount 8" subs and do some cutting.
C. Deal with some internet speaker seller who reportedly has had problems lately.
D. Buy some aftermarket speakers and put an amp in there. Great - more wiring and assembly time.
I chose A. For my daily driver, they sound just fine. Just putting a new set of better speakers in there is not sufficient - the entire sound system would need to be considered together. I 'm under no illusions that Monsoon is some high-end system. I just not in the market for replacing my car's sound system.I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

over two years ago, I took a small metal cut saw and cut the opening and put in 6 X 9
speakers by a well know mfg. I filled in the gaps with foam stuff in an aersol can I got
at home depot....works fine. It works with my Bose Monsoon Amp just fine.
