Hey guys sorry this isn't about a camaro or firebird, but a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse 3.0l. A couple days ago my car shut off like the battery died. So I went in and had my alternator tested and it was fine, and I bought another battery today. After I hooked up the battery to get it started I pulled the wires off of it and it ran for a few minutes but then died shortly after. This isn't the first time the car has done this to me, its eaten alternators before because of my system I think. I guess my question is what else could be the problem?

Re: battery/alternator question
you cant pull the battery connections off of a running car.
they will either shut off, or cause a bad voltage spike and ruin the ecm.
and another thing, NEVER trust those machines that test batteries and alternators. i would be willing to say though that the alternator is good, since you did say it ran for a few minutes before shutting off.
i would look elsewhere, like a clogged fuel filter, or maybe a bad fuel pump

Re: battery/alternator question
I would buy a mutimeter and test eveything yourself, plus its a handy tool , you can test sensors and whatnot with it also. I would also check what cam98aro said.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake
96' Camaro M5 to A4 conversion, alot of mods . GT35R Turbo full suspension. Built engine

Re: battery/alternator question
I'm sure its not the fuel pump or filter, all the electronics shut off then the car dies.1997 Chevrolet Camaro
