              Re: Installing a Tach

Id just get an aeroforce gauge and be done with it....

The stock tach is actually not accurate. Mine was off by about 200rpms give or take., it seemed to lag a little, compared to the computer.

I think the OP said he wanted it "for the looks" ... not sure what that's all about because I think mine is ugly as hell.

In my own defense, I have the ugly thing for two reasons-
                  - My factory tach doesn't come close to keeping up with the actual RPMs through 1st gear off the line. When it's passing 5000 I'm bouncing off the 7700 rev limiter
                  - Even if the tach did keep up, I shift at 7500 and the stock tach stops at 7000 (manual valvebody TH350)

Honestly I would rather have it behind the steering column where the instrument cluster is. When I get the chance to make a nice panel to go in that spot, that's exactly where it will be. Until then, it is kind of convenient to stage with it in my line of sight with the tree.

should put the money into your dash instead of the floor mats up there, honestly your dash isn't going to get keyed, don't care if you color everything pink, just get it in decent shape before you buy all these little doodads and lights.

Why do you still have the stock bulbs in your gauge cluster and HVAC area? I'd figure you'd change those to LEDs by now?
