so i know that this has been brought up many times over but i had starting problems this morning weather is about 10 degrees outside. I checked my battery and my connections to it and there fine. Alternator is fine so what i think is the problem is the starter. My lights come on but no clicking and the engine doesnt turn over. i smacked the starter and it started up but the time before i didnt touch it and it started up eventually. every time after that it starts but if i dont turn it on for awhile and just leave it off it doesnt want to turn on again. Could it be my starter or electrical conections. Any ways to check without freezing outside?

Re: ignition problem
Sounds like the solenoid on the starter is froze up you can mnually jump it to get the car to crank if you want or just replace the starter. Also make sure your battt. doesn't have a dead cell that could cause the starter not to engage also.08' L76 6.0L 4X4 Chevy EXT.Cab LTZ Vortec MAX with Snug top cover, Dynomax exhaust,Hptuners& K&N intake

Re: ignition problem
Could be the solenoid, or more likely the windings have a dead spot and every once in awhile you land on them, which is why hitting it makes it work. You vibrate the housing which moves the windings slightly enough to turn over. Quite common for that or the solenoid.
