Ive been searching the forum for help with the light dimming and engine surge like it has a huge cam installed. All of which only happens under 1500rpms while decel (regardless if brakes are appllied) until idle. I see the BIG 3 and add extra grounds so I dont fry my battery. So I added a 4 gauge ground which made it seem to idle smoother. Then I loaded the system(high beams and a/c on with brakes applied). And I heard a loud rattle from the alt. I checked out it and thought itd be a tree seed but its too metal sounding. Has any one heard an alt rattle and should I just replace it? Thanks

Well I replaced my ALT for $100 at my job and when I got the old one off it was squealing like crazy. I guess topping out will do that to an all original ALT on a 149k mileage car. But I still had the problem of my car trying to die when I brake or if the car got under 1500krpms before idle. Then I had a friend point out to me about a time he had a sensor out and whadoyaknow my IAT was missing. I pulled it all out when
i had to replace my tensioner pulley and I must've forgot to plug it in. So some how the sensor was ripped out of the socket by the serpentine but left the connector intact. Bought a new sensor and now no more light flicker on braking. Thanks guys.
