  • Help with PCM pinouts; After A4 to M5 switch

I need help with the PCM pinouts. My car is a 2001 Camaro and I did a conversion from an A4 to M5. Everything works fine, the only problem is the Clutch Anticipate Switch is not put in and my Cruise Control does not work, I also get a P0704 DTC code.

I know how the wiring for the switch goes but my question is the following:

From the clutch anticipate switch goes a GRY wire to the PCM Blue connector Pin #32. Now, do A4 Camaros come from the factory with a wire in that PIN and where does it go or do I have to put in a whole new wire?

And if a car is converted from an A4 to an M5, does it need the PCM Blue connector PIN# 33, which goes to the TCC Brake Switch, which is also used for Cruise Control functions?

If PIN# 33 is not needed for a manual car, can I just switch it to PIN# 32 and use that same wire to connect to the Clutch Anticipate Switch since its right next to the brake pedal and the TCC Brake Switch?

Have you checked in the engine tech that shows the PCM wiring diagrams. That what I used to rewire for my M5 to A4 swap. It will show what wires are for a M5 PCM and then for a A4 PCM.

So you just moved that pin from 32 to 33 for your A4?

I did look at it and it says 32 is clutch anticipate (manual trans) and pin 33 says tcc brake switch (auto trans) but it does not specify ONLY for either. That is why I wanted to make sure that 33 is not needed for an m5?

No I didn't move any wires when I did my M5 to A4 swap, I got a Speartech wiring harness and wired it into the harness. Then just swapped PCMs or I reflashed, can't remember. I know the timing tables between M5 and A4 are different so the PCM or a reflash needs to be done. If it says for a A4, you will not need it for the M5.

What is a Speartech wiring harness?

I did get a new PCM programmed for an M5. Everything is fine. The only thing missing for me is the clutch anticipation switch.

So I guess I will be able to just switch the wire from pin 33 to pin 32, which is used for the M5, since pin 33 is listed for auto trans, probably not needed any more.

Re: Help with PCM pinouts; After A4 to M5 switch

Speartech is a Co. that makes custom wiring harnesses for vehicles, I just used them so I would have a complete harness and they also label the wires for where they go, just made it easier when swapping I think I wired in about 14-16 wires to the harness. Any of the wires listed for the auto trans your not going to use anymore with your M5. Also since you have a M5 PCM you shouldn't have any of the wires working on the harness for the the A4 part of the PCM since its a M5 PCM now.
