my new setup

I ordered 2 audiobahn aw1200q's and a hifonics bx1500d. I'm going to make my own box, but I'm not sure if I should build a sealed or ported box.
Does anybody know if subs are louder in the rear well, or in the space behind the backseat??
I'll miss my Infinity Perfects/jl 500/1 setup, but I wanted something louder.

if you want to go loud, no question it needs to be ported. But if you want to be ported you will more than likely have to give up your whole hatch.

144 DB on what meter was that on? Was that on the dash?

I did a 137.8 on the dash with (2) 10'' RF HX2s pushed by a Viper 1200.1 in a vented enclosure.

Yeah I really want to go ported, I'll probably do a 1.5 cube per chamber ported tuned to I have no idea what yet. That way it will fit in the rear well, but I might have to do angled ports or something.
144dB on an audiocontrol epic-150. I was really hitting around 139 or so because my friend who had the epic-150 was hitting 147 with it and only hit 142.7 with a real mic.
What ohmload was your viper amp running? seems like you should've hit a little bit more than 138, but thats still pretty damn loud.

It was down to 1 ohm load.

Considering at the same compitition another camaro with 15'' HX2s hit a 141 with 15's and i did a 138 with 10's i think is pretty good.

Im doing a new set up..

Orion 2500 D and (2) RE SX subs, this should put me at about 148 or do DB's

On your old setup where was the box placed? and where were the ports facing? How big was the box?

Trying to get more spl out of a low line of the audiobahn's :rolleyes: In the maro I was running 2 12'' audiobahn aw1205q's with a hcq2300 amp and I was only hitting 146 with 300 so ft of deadener and a subthump box. Ditch the audiobahn's, I did now I'm much happier.

ok..,.sealed is a very nice clean-quick hit. I think it sounds quite a bit better than vented boxs, but most kids dont care how clean it is and if you want to make a big SPL number light up....go PORTED! I ran both and i prefer ported/vented. Also, i would put the subs in the actual trunk if you can. i dont have a trunk anymore because of the subs but i just put the backseat down and us that for ecvery day use if your worried about that. I think its the loudest. I tried it in the place behind your backseat..in the back seat..facing back toward the hatch..you name it..i think the trunks teh best place. if you put it in your backseat area you have to open your turnk and your driver side door to get a good hit.
Out of curiousity..what happened to your 2 12" alpine Type R's...I run the same thing with a MRD 1000 amp and i hit 155.2dB. 149.7 on the dash doors closed. I had to build alot of boxs to do that but I think that they work perfectly now.(thats out of a vented box) if you need any more hlep let me know.

i've had two very similar setups in both locations..to be honest..it didnt really make a noticeable difference..also..i have an INSANE box for sale..check it out on my web page [img]smile.gif[/img]

Put it as far away from you as possible. I don't know what that will do for you in terms of loudness, but it should allow more room for lower sound waves to fully develop [img]smile.gif[/img]

what he said. you will get a much fuller sound with them in the well. if you care about the actual quality in your audio design. behind the seat is fine for spl but for some better sq put it in the well.
