exactly my point...

maybe it was under warranty, but nonetheless something still went wrong with it. it still crapped out in some way.

Ok I just have on q? Ok well why stay away from pineer?

I have been going to competions for a long time now and I am hitting low bass with my pineer... most competions everyone has pineer... Here in new mexico were when you drive down the street and drive up next to someone and turn up your radio you better prepair to have a better system...

A freind of mine has a 89 blazer with a bad system... You know he has a good system when he was at a comp.. he blew his front windshield out... now thats bass...

I wouldn't go with pineer amp or subs but there head units are very good quality for sound... My freinds all work at audio express here in New Mexico and when they sell a jl most of the time they come back...

want a good pineer for low price get a pineer premier 6400 head unit... has biult in eq , cross over, is a mp3 player, has hook ups for satlite radio... plus picture keep girls wanting more...

don't take my advise if you don't want thats kool but I just wanted to put in my point about pineer decks...

jl makes a good deck but doesn't have the bass quality for blowing your ears away...

I've had mine for 1 1/2 years, still NO problems. Worth every penny! Now, that wasn't so "difficult" was it? :D

You are incorrect. The NEWEST one is the 9400. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pi...0~4010,00.html Straight from the Pioneer homepage. May take awhile to come up. Actually, its been out a little while now. Free upgrade?? What??

Whoa, looks pretty good. Definite Wow factor with the DL-able pics and EL screen.

So How will the factory speakers sound with a new HU? Better cuz of the new HU or crappy cuz it can't handle it??

get whatever head unit you like the best. next, get a 500-600 watt amp to power your speakers in the doors and the b-pillars. look on crutchfield.com and search under you car's audio system. I'm assuming you have the little 100 watt system. get the 140 watt rms/250 max output speakers under the b-pillar replacement area. get 4 for them, running you 200 bucks total. have the 500-600 watt amp power those. next, get the custom enclosure that goes into the rear storage area. get a pair of 12's for 99 bucks w/ each having a 300 watt output. now, get another 600 watt amp to power those. that should be enough bump to satisfy anyone who wants to keep some of their hearing when they are 70, just as long as you don't crank it unless you're outside your car.

BTW, the stock speakers are 6 3/4 inches, FYI.

I'm actually going to be putting another set of tweeters on the plastic piece you are. Someone else around here has done it already. Just be aware that there is VERY little space behind that plastic so you'll HAVE to mount them on the plastic with some creativity or money.

I've just relocated my Polk tweeters from "hanging" right under the window/lock switches to that "shark-fin" today. Used a dremel tool and made a hole. Fits GREAT and there's still room left, depth-wise. Ching-Chingin' now!!! :D :D and it doesn't sound like:
Ching ching
.
.
.
.
.
.vocals
:D
You can sure hear a lot more ching-ching from the outside though. A tell-tale sign you got something upgraded in your car....
I've also added another pair of tweeters to the trunk panel....
woohoo!!!

I'm surprised that noone has mentioned MB Quart mid/highs. I'm very happy with mine, and I've even considered puting off the up-front sub idea for a while. They play very solid all the way down to about 50 hz or so.

As far as the sub box, if you're going single woofer (10") and stealth, definately go for the JL box. Much better construction, and built for their W6 woofer. I'm not knockin' the MTX box, but I'm just not too impressed by all those flimsy flat panels... way too much ambient vibration for my taste.

Don't be scared by the 3 ohm load, if the amp will handle 2, it's fine.

Just my opinions...
