I ordered 2 10" MTX 4000's and a 400 watt 4 channel amp. I also have a 52x4 xplod head unit and kappa 2 ways in the back. What would be the best way to set this system up so that the subs would "bump" but I also have power going to my 2 ways in the front and back. I am relitively new to all this car audio stuff, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The system you've got sounds good to go. But you should have got a two channel insted of a four for your subs. You could bridge it down for more power but your amp will get pretty hot. What class is your amp? A,B,C,D. If its a class D amp then you can bridge it down but if its a class A then it's not a good idea. Just use your amp to power the subs.<a href=\"http://www.fortunecity.com/uproar/winners/213\" target=\"_blank\">Craft-Matic-Man\'s Web Site</a><p>\"I Was A Wash In A Sea Of Poo\"<br />Johnny Knoxvill / Jackass<p>\"Can You Walk Like A Pimp, Is Your Bizkit Limp\"<br />Whity Ford / Faith Remix

Once you know what you're doing, the first thing you will do is replace your 4 channel amp with a 2 channel. Your amp is meant to run your front and back speakers (mids). If you have stock mids, GET RID OF THEM. that cardboard crap will not only sound bad but will blow after you give them a little extra juice. If you desprately need bumps now, bridge 2 channels to each sub until you get a 2 channel amp. You'll get a little bass that way. Your amp is gonna get a little warm though so make sure it's well ventalated. make sure there is at least 1" clearance under the amp.
the best thing you can do is go to a stereo shop and say "Hi I'm a stupid idiot and I need someone to teach me some basic car audio stuff!" thats about what I did a long time ago but in different words :D1994 Camaro 3.4L M5 R.I.P.<br />You know what they say- a small engine means big... errr... e/t\'s<br /><a href=\"http://www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident\" target=\"_blank\">www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident</a><p>replaced with: red 97 A4 vert (my brothers as soon as i find my REAL replacement)<p>soon to come: 1969 RS/SS<p>\"All you need are the esentials: scented candles, massage oil, and Berry White write that down.\" -Van Wilder

oh and before you're too terribly mistaken... just "bumping" is NOT cool. more is not always better. my single 12" sub I have now is WAY louder then my ghetto dual 12" subs back in highschool. You need quality components that can handle a lot of power... then GIVE them that power! Just make sure you have some high's to go with those lows. ;)1994 Camaro 3.4L M5 R.I.P.<br />You know what they say- a small engine means big... errr... e/t\'s<br /><a href=\"http://www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident\" target=\"_blank\">www.pbase.com/rrj72/the_accident</a><p>replaced with: red 97 A4 vert (my brothers as soon as i find my REAL replacement)<p>soon to come: 1969 RS/SS<p>\"All you need are the esentials: scented candles, massage oil, and Berry White write that down.\" -Van Wilder

If your geting an amp get a 2 way becuase most 2 ways come with a biult in crossover if it doesn't you can get a cheap crossover and hook the cross over to the monster cables going to the back... out of cross over to amp if you get a cross over trust me the sound that you get will be so much better... the crosser over advise is only for 4 channel amp... keep your front speakers off the amp all together... just adjust the radio to 0 bass and about half way up on treble it will give the the highs that you want... becuase if you use the ac out's ( were monster cables go ) mostly run lows eny ways...
