i dont want to use LED's.. so how would i wired the 12v power to it?

          ... like this?

will it work like that? or will i need 2 seperate power supplies?

or will i only have to tap the LOW speed wire to the power? since when high is on.. its all connected at the switch?

12V source is to power lights/LEDs only.

You are only grounding the wires from the engine bay, so you should be able to hook it up like normal minus 12V power source.

You might not understand this, but what you are actually doing is grounding relays that control the power to the fans. There's a 12V source already connected to the relays and by providing them with a ground you complete the circuit.

then whats the point of having the switch if there is no power to be added to the line in order for the fans to run...???

isnt the whole switch idea to Connect a power supply to the line to operate the fans?

thus im pretty sure i DO need a power source..

i know this.. because i already tried it without the power source.. it did nothing..

Nope, the whole idea is to ground the relays that control the power to the fans. The switch is there to complete the circuit.

Try this: take the low fan speed wire (can't remember the color) and connect it to the cigarette lighter ground (-). The fan will turn on, see? If you connected both wires to the ground the fans would turn on high.

FTI: A relay is like gate. You put power across the gate to allow it to open. In our cars, the PCM will put power across the relay to open the gate and the power now going through the gate goes from the battery/alt to the fans (not from the PCM to the fans) Thats a simplistic version, but I hope you get the point.

ground pin J for low speed, and pins J and H for high.

the lights in my switch, are just so i know when they are on, and i have 2 relays, so the switch operates +12 volts, but the car sees ground when the fans are on.

                     it works!!

im telling you.. my soldering is getting damn good!

anyways.. thank you guys for all your help. i overestimated the difficulty of this mod.

i'll take pictures of where i located the switch.. and how i ran the wireing..

i didnt bother running the wires through the firewall. didnt have the patience to take off panels.

it may be a day or so before i get pics up. friday is my day off so i'll do it then.

                    once again. thanks guys

those will work, but will give a ses light on OBD-2 vehicles.

What? When did it go off? Are you leaving the fans running all the time? A SES light is easily avoidable with a fan switch.

well as a test i drove to work with the fans on high the whole time..

started the car, flipped the switch to high.. got to work.. turned fans off.. then shut car off..

half way there i got the ses light
