Hi new here have a question

My camaro came with the bose stereo system, and my front speakers blew, i was told from a few stores that i cant just hook up after market speakers to the bose cd player head unit. Is this true? about a half year ago i bought two subs and an amp, i had a little shop install them, and they got the signal for the amp off of the rear 5th speaker in the trunk and i was woundering if this is the cause of the front speakers blowing... is there a cheap way that i could keep the bose headunit and hook up after market speakers in the front? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated thanks

that sounds like bull****. I can see no reason at all why you couldn't just hook up new speakers to the wires the older ones were getting. I'd try it. Dont trust anybody that works at a car audio shop. Must of them either dont know what there talking about, or they just tell you bull**** so you'll buy stuff.

Hold what that guy is saying has some relavence to it...the factory bose system runs off a factory amplifier...this system uses mismatching impedences which will cause the aftermarket speakers to not to be as loud or sound as good as they should...dont get me wrong im sure you can do it...I just wouldn't recommend it...youll see a small improvement (if any)

p.s. If I were you id spring for an aftermarket HU

I was just thinking that maybe i burned up the bose amp in the trunk, maybe this could also be a possibility, if it is could i buy an after market amp and use that instead of the stock bose amp in the trunk?

Thats not an easy task..you will need to splice in some line level converters and get some external crossovers (unless your aftermarket amp has them) I still say your best bet is to get a HU with an internal amp and run your bose (or aftermarket) speakers off that...

this is why i hate Bose. if something happens, you either HAVE to use bose replacement parts, or re-do your entire system. All bose parts are integrated, the speakers, the HU, the amp. All designed to work together. Stock, they sound good. But when you start switching components, Bose stuff gets all weird.
