I noticed that my right rear Bose speaker isn't too happy lately, it makes crackling noises when I turn the radio up half way. I am thinking of installing component speakers and I was wondering if anyone out there has suggestions and good deals? I honestly don't have the funds to buy anything ground breaking, I just want something that sounds good with minimal thump.

If your talking about the speakers in the hatch you dont need any there. Just disconnect them and save that money for some good speakers up front or a sub or something like that. I thought I would never do without my rear speakers in the hatch then I decided to disconnect them one day and I liked it alot. It keeps the soundstage up near the front of the car where it needs to be. If your talking about the ones in the backseat area you dont really need components there but some people use them. Just get some decent coaxials. I have midbass subs in that area and so far their nice. I dont know if this is of any help, Im not really sure what your looking for.

It is the speaker right next to the rear seat I'm talking about. I tried the coaxial speakers before, but I have a sony 4 channel amp pushing sound out and I didn't like the sound from the coaxial speakers. It sounded like the speakers were trying to handle too much from one cone. The 300w amp I have isn't that powerful, but it suits my needs. I went to a car show a few weeks ago and I heard a really nice system a guy had set up in a '69 custom Camaro. I asked what kind of stereo speaker set up he had, and he told me that he had Components. I showed him my car (not in the show) and he said the Components would sound nice with the system I had hooked up. I figured I'd try one set in the back for now, and if I liked them, i'll be back for a set in the front doors.

Not too many people have components in the back seat. The only ones I know are the people with a DVD system in their car and they need them for surround sound. The best thing to do is try them out. If you like them then thats all that matters. If not them move them to the doors, get rid of those crappy stock speakers, if thats what you have up there.
