Just curious to what your amp actually puts out according to its birth sheet compared to the model amp it is. Like mine is a Rockford 800a2, but according to the birth sheet, it actually puts out 1,124 watts. Are most Rockford amps this underrated?

My 600a4 had a birth sheet with 860watts. And I have a 200a4 with 340Watts (or close to that). It has a lot to do with the birthsheet testing conditions compared to the rated output conditions. I believe the rating is at 12V while the birth sheet uses 14.4V, but I could be a little off on those.

I still have my 64watt 2 channel amp back from 1997. That thing kicks azz. RF makes a great amp. I dropped the ohms from 4 to 1 and went from 64 watts to 415watts just from wiring my subs together. This only works on amps that say they can handle it. My friend tried it on his brand X amp even when I told him not to and he killed it within five minutes. My amp did have one channel go out just after I bought it. I sent it in and 8 days later I had her back. She has been kicking strong for the past five years now. I would never sell her.White 98 Camaro with t-tops leather and Y87. For more info on mods just ask.
1/4=14.9
2002 Xterra V6 A4

I don't know about being THAT underrated. I have a bd1000a1 and the birth sheet says 1182. That's only 182 watts over, nothing compared to your 300+ on the 800a2. I also have an 800a4 and the birth sheet says 852. I love my amps to death but I don't think ALL Rockford amps are THAT underrated.
