Just wondering since this weekend I'll be having my system put in, I figure I'll just get a new Optima (red top, don't listen with car off) and a HO alternator. BTW, what are stock alternator output #s.
How much more involved is putting the HO alternator in compared to stock...about how long will it take me to swap them?
i just replaced the stock 105A alternator with a HO 180A one i got on ebay. its 85A at idle and max is 180A at 1800rpms.
you'll have to replace the wire to the battery w/ 4g (if you have a side post battery you'll need new terminals to fit it, i got it at best buy).
hockeyman helped me put it on but it was pretty straightforward and didn't take too long
forgot to mention, the power wire that went to the old alternator doesn't come out from the battery easily, so i just taped it up and tied it down so it doesn't touch anything since there is still power running thru it
Yeah, probably the same alternator I'm looking at. Says 75a at idle and 180a @ 1800.
The guy on eBay also advertised :
"This alternator requires a 4 gauge power cable to replace the existing re-charge wire to the back of the alternator. I can supply this cable for $25.00 extra, it is commercial quality cable with crimped terminals and heat shrinked with split loom along the cable for protection from chafing."
yeah that's the same place i got it from. don't expect any email replys from them, but i got it a week after i paid for it. so far it is working really well

ya dont get the 4g cable the charge 25 bux for, i got stinger 4g power cable, but in my other topic "poss Probs with HO alt" i was advised to upgrade my cables to 1/0g to take full advantage of the alt. its gonna cost alil more for that cable but i hear its well worth it.
\"Well, we don\'t care how bad-*** some dude\'s N/A Honda S2000 motor is; if you go up against 900+ pushrod ponies and 750 pounds of earth-shaking torque with a wrong-wheel-drive econobox, you\'re gonna get a fast and furious old-school ***-whipping.\"
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
