  • Is this a good deal?

I'm looking to put a 12" sub in a subthump box, would this package sound good or should I spend a little more and buy an Alpine amp and sub?

    Thanks,

Never worry about uprading, haha ok.

I hate RF and I will never buy them again.

What type of music do you listen to? What are you trying to do with the system? Whats already in the car?

I listen to late 70'2 punk (Sex Pistols, Ramones, ...) so SQ is not that important since these CD's have a garage feel to them. But I also listen to Rock, Rap, Classical, Jazz, Techno, and Dance.

My system right now consists of an Alpine 9833 and 4 stock speakers. I plan on putting a 12” sub in a stealth box with an amp. Then putting in a component system up front, I going to try and get away with using the HU amp to power them, if that don’t work I’ll buy a 4 channel amp for it. Then I might put in some rear fill. I don’t need an award winning system, just something that sounds decent.

        Thanks for the help!

If you want to keep things simple, you could just use one amp to do everything. A decent 4-channel amp with two channels powering whatever you end up using in your doors and bridge the other two remaining channels to power a single 4-OHM voice coil 12" sub. For the doors, you could go with a nice coaxial speaker like the CDT CL-6X. If you want to use components, you could either go with CDT CL-61A's or the Infinity Reference 6000S.

If you want to go with Rockford subs, I'd atleast get the Stage 2's, the stage 1's are rockfords entry level sub. A few other inexpensive 12" subs that don't require much airspace would be the Alpine typeE, Infinity Reference or the Dayton Quatro.

If you are going to go with the stealth box, you are going to need a sub that doesn't require much air space, JL is one of many. I would take a look at the new w1's if you aren't trying to spend a lot of money or the w3v2's if you wanna spend a little more. If you are going to stay with the stock speakers, their is no point in amping them, not even if you get stock size 2/3 way speakers. I don't think you need components with what you are trying to do but they will sound better.
