I want to add a sub/subs to my car but i don't want to have to go through the trouble/money of replacing all the speakers and amping them. I don't know too much about car audio besides from the basics. I have the monsoon stereo and i want alittle bit more bass so i can take some pressure off the 6.5's. I have seen the stealth box and although it is pricey, i need to be able to store my t tops. Is there anyway to hook up a 10inch sub to my factory HU with the stealth box? Would it sound good? If not, are there any subs that have there own amp and everthing so that it would just need a remote wire to work. Any info would be appreciated.

you NEED an amp to run even one sub. You can hook up an amp even if the HU doesnt have and preamp outputs. This is done by using the speaker wires to input the amp. this isnt recommended but can be done. Sound quality lowers (I've been told). But you'll get the bass, and I'm sure with some adjustments you could get the speakers back to normal as well. I'd look into replacing the HU and getting an amp and sub. in the long run it will be better. If money's an issue, get HU first. Save up get amp, and install it (thats a pain if you want the wires hidden) and then buy the sub and box.

The simplest way to add bass to a car when you aren't all that concerned with sound quality (since you're keeping the stock system, your'e obiously not too concerned) is with a Bazooka tube.
Pretty simple:
1. splice into your rear speakers
2. run wires to the high inputs
3. run power from the battery
4. set gain and go.
The best part is that you can disconnect the bazooka tube for extra cargo space.

I think MTX makes a stealth type box for the rear hatch. It comes with a single 10, and also has the option for a built in amp.Massivefirebird\'s <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/leondb\" target=\"_blank\">(leonDB) Cardomain</a><br /><a href=\"http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/cgi-bin/flowmaster\" target=\"_blank\"> Flowmaster 80</a>, <a href=\"http://www.knfilters.com/\" target=\"_blank\"> K&N FIPK</a>, <a href=\"http://www.jetchip.com/\" target=\"_blank\"> Jet Stage 2 & 180º T/S</a>, <a href=\"http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/SparkPlugs/PlatinumPlus4/\" target=\"_blank\"> Bosch quads</a>, <a href=\"http://www.pilotautomotive.com/pilot2dn.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> Pilot 1055 Fogs</a>, <a href=\"http://makotoautotrends.com/\" target=\"_blank\">Clear turn signals</a>, <a href=\"http://www.autoventshade.com/\" target=\"_blank\">AVS rear blackouts</a>... <a href=\"http://www.massiveaudio.com\" target=\"_blank\">2 Massive CW 12\'s</a>, <a href=\"http://www.kicker.com\" target=\"_blank\">Kicker 2252, 652,& 352 XI Amps</a>, <a href=\"http://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/home/\" target=\"_blank\">MB Quart</a>.

I've got a Kenwood KAC-628 stereo bridgable amp and 8" bazooka bass tube that I had installed in my Mustang before I bought my Firebird. They were professionally installed, purchased brand new in Spring of 2000. They were used roughly 6 months before I traded the Mustang. Unfortunately, I did not remove my Pioneer HU (got a better trade in than what I paid for the HU by leaving it in), but I'd be willing to let the pair go for $200 or trade for Whisper Lid (LID-06-99/02) / K&N Air Filter (33-2118) combo or SLP Cold Air Induction package (21033) / K&N Air Filter (33-2118) combo for 99 Firebird V6.
