I'm currently in the process of replacing the factory Monsoon stereo system, and I was thinking about replacing the two factory 6.5" subs with some aftermarket ones. I know JL audio makes some, but they are not designed for open baffle type use, they need to be in a seeled or ported box. Anyways, have any of you put new 6.5" subs in? if so what? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The subs are already there. It's the Monsoon system, it has 2 factory subs.....you're thinking the baseline 4 speaker system....i agree with baseline it would be pure suicide.1997 Camaro 30th Anniversary...M5, chrome 16\" 5-stars Goodyear 245/50R16
http://members.cardomain.com/issycamaroman

Come Monday I will have finished installing a new two channel amp powering some aftermarket speakers in my doors, ought to sound really good, (and loud!!!) I'm debating between replacing the factory 6.5"s and amping them, or to just leave them as is, and go with a JL Vantage box and whatever I choose for a single 10". I'm thinking the 10" will probably sound better, so I'm kindof leaning that way seeing how I want SQ, along with plenty of bump. I'm just trying to get some info as to those that have replaced the factory subs. Thanks guys 98 White T-Top Firebird
w/ the crome 5 star rims
FRA, Smoothed stock lid,
Dynomax Super Turbo Exhaust
http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=346111

The Adire Audio Koda's are also only $80 each. But they aren't subs really.....
Depends. What amp do you have now? What are you using it for?
