    I got a 2001 3.8 Firebird

    The plan is to eventually gut it and turn it into a semi-raing, weekend warrior only.

    NE way does this model have one of those anti-theft radios that if you remove it you need a code from the dealership to use it again.

    I dont plan to ever use it again, but I wanna keep my options open

    Yes, if the stock radio loses power it will require a code, once you power it back up, if the Theftlock option is turned on. You'll know if Theftlock is on by the blinking red light while the car is off.
