• Need a "to buy " list for new HU.

I've got a 94 w/ the bose. The front speakers have already been replaced and there are no rear ones. Someone ripped them out. Next step is replace the radio. I know i'll need the mounting kit. is Metra 99-3009 good? Anyone got a pic of it so I can see how flush it is etc.? If so that'd be great. I also think I need some kind of special harness, correct? Something like Pac OEM1 or whatever I dont know. What about antenna adapter? I'm clueless.

    Welcome to the board!

At the very top of the page, click modifications encyclopedia. Then click stereo/electronics. That's a good place to start looking for f-body car audio info. Should answer a lot of questions for ya.

For this question, the harness is nothing special. Same as anyone would use with any other car or H/U. Best Buy, CC or any other place that installs car audio will have them. About 10 bucks. You actually don't HAVE to use it. You can cut the car harness off and splice wire to wire on your new H/U if you want. (Use color diagram in mod encyc) But I recommend getting the harness. The PAC OEM1 is just a line output converter used to add external amps to the stock headunit. You're using and aftermarket H/U, so no need for it. And finally, the antenna adapter is a must. Should be like 8 bucks.

      So I don't need PAC-OEM1?

      Hm....

      "PAC OEM-1
Do you have a Premium factory sound system?
Like a GM Delco Bose, Ford JBL, Nissan Bose, Mazda Bose, Chrysler Infinity, Honda/Acura Bose, Toyota Amplified System or Volkswagen Bose.
      If so.....Now you can easily:

      * Replace a factory stereo and keep the factory amplifiers?"

Isn't that what i'm doing here?

EDIT- Wait I see what you're saying now. The way you're thinking, i'm going to rip out the bose amps and just run speaker wire from the HU to the speakers. Suppose I wanted to keep the bose amps, then do I need the OEM-1?

I bought a harness at wal-mart and it came with an adapter so I'd suggest that. As he said an adapter isn't necessary, but it's definitely worth it. Makes the wiring easier and also will be easier if you sell the car.
