i've got a kenwood excelon kdc-x817 cd player. today i got in my car and the radio came on fine, but after about 15 sec the music stopped and my cd player opened and just stayed like that. no music is playing and it shows no power going to it. there's a cd stuck in there also. i took off the head and it then closed, but when i put it back on it opened again and is doing the same thing. it's still under warranty but is there something else i can do? i lost my manual so i can't look the problem. this just sucks b/c it's an expensive cd player that i've only had for a year and a half. i had another kenwood excelon before this one and it crapped out on me too.

I had a problem with my Kenwood Excelon X659. It musta fried or something because it just stopped working one day when I started the car...the fuse wasn't blown but there was power getting to the unit. I have yet to take it in but will be doing so very soon.98 Bright Red Camaro
Too many mods to list....check my website

Mine is still fried too. All that happens when I plug it in is that the remote and power antenna are activated. It really weird because the car isn't even on. I opened up the thing completely and couldn't find anything wrong physically. I guess I need to take it to an electronics repair shop.98 Bright Red Camaro
Too many mods to list....check my website

i went to sound advice today and they had to send it off to kenwood to get serviced. they said it was the power cord or something that got fried. while it's there its getting everything else worked on like the sensor and being realigned. it could take 6-8 weeks, but he said the last one he sent only took 4 days. hopefully it won't be gone more than 2 weeks. this really sucks b/c i gotta drive 2 hours home this weekend for mothers day. i'm bringing an old boombox which will hopefully get me through the drive.94 Firebird - Red A4
http://members.cardomain.com/predatorbird

It seems to be a problem with the Excelon's. My friends did that, so he sent it back to Kenwood and UPS lost his package. Good thing he had insurance on it. Anyways, From what I've heard a lot of Kenwoods do this after about 2 years. I was going to get a Excelon, but my friend that owns a stereo/repair shop says to stay away from the motorized Kenwoods because they service a lot of them.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun!
