I have heard that all the Xplode series anything from Sony suck real bad. Personally I love my Audiobahn 12's that I got on Ebay for $100 each. Crutchfield wants $200 for them so I turn to ebay for most of my audio gear.98 Bright Red Camaro
Too many mods to list....check my website

ok big. Check it =P. I got an 12 Xplod sub for free a while back. I didnt care about the quality of the sub. I now have a JL w6 12 and I can say that the sony is a decent sub for our cars. BUT THIS IS WHAT U DO. Go down to an audio shop and get a rt truck style box that will wedge inbetween the trunk lock and the flat space under the hatch. With a semi decent amp pushing the sub with at least able to go to a max of 650-1000watts you Down fire ( MUST BE DONE THIS WAY ) into the trunk. The sub will be almost 2x louder and the distortion will be cured by the usage of sound construction of the waves.
The sony is a good sub. But it is a technical sub its all in how you place it. Its not made for the typical hey lets put a sub in the car. It should have a 1 cubic foot space - 2.5cubic foot air space ( in box ) but a 1.2 wedged up high and downfiring into the trunk is VERY good. This works for most any sub, but the sony really does capitalize on it.
As I said before I now have a very nice sub and a custom box with a JL 500/1 amp. So Ive done quite an upgrade from my 12 sony Xplod with a 1000watt Crunch Blackmaxx amp. But. I got many compliments with the sony. and not many ( if at all ) of my friends noticed I changed subs until I told them. Email me if u dont understand my setup design, but keep the sub. Its great for the price.97 Special Edition Bird , Short bus stlye special

hey takami. i have only one problem with your idea..i dont own a f-body..my friend and i are custom building my box out of medium density board..we built the one that he had in his cutlass like that, and his sub sounded great...he had a 10 in rockford punch HE.. hopefully mine will sound good..i decided if i have the sub, i might as well just put it in..i got a good deal on it, so if it doesnt sound great, o well. but thanks for your suggestion.
by the way, we are building the box to the exact specifications of one cubic foot..and we are probably going to port it also...my friend at best buy said they sound best that way..so thanks for the help again.1993 Olds Cutlass Ciera(The White Devil)3.3L V6 (gone)
New Car:2002 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V6 (The White Bull)

All subs a relative to their encloser. You can take a awesome sub and put it in the wrong size box, and it will sound like crap.
Xplodes really do suck, my friend bought a set, and blew three different subs 3 times with in a few weeks of each other. It wasn't the way they were connected or that he was over powering them everything was setup right. Heck he even had the Xplode amp that was recommended for the speakers. He also eventually blew his mids and highs out to, but I think that was more his fault for turning the gain up too much. Sony makes good home stuff and good professional stuff, but I don't know what went wrong with their car audio line.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun!
