  • Do Alpines hit Hard?

I was just wondering if 2 12 Alpine Type R's would hit hard? I would most likely be putting them in subthump.com's t top box. My cousin has a 2000 cavalier with 2 12 audiobahns with a rms of 550 in his trunk and those things makes your jacket vibrate and the hair on your face move.

I was just wondering if Alpine can contend with the bass of audiobahn. I got a alpine head unit and i would like to stick with alpine, because i think alpine is one of the best.

Also let me know if you have heard type r subs or have them? Let me know how good they are.

alpines are ok, i heard a pair of 12'' type r's hooked up to a jl 1000/1 amp in a contour and they hit pretty hard, nothing like my audiobahns but i guess it depends on how much you want to spend. I should be hitting around 150-154dB's or so, i cant wait to get metered!

I got 2 10 inch type r's in my camaro and they sound great . They hit good and have good SQ. I'm running about 350 rms to them. As for you depends if you buy the 2 ohm or the 4 ohm subs. If you get the 2 ohm subs and your amp is two ohm stable you will get the most power out of your amp. as for the t-top box I have never heard any subs in that box. As I have found that any subs in a camaro sound better faced into the well.

Yes, the Type R's are very hard hitters for what they cost. Excellent sound quality and they will handle a lot more power than what they are rated for. I've had a pair of them hit a lil over 147 dbs in a sealed well box before. Give 'em 500 watts each and you'll be happy :D

You beat me to that one. Plus I'd love to see the box that houses two 13w7's. That would require abotu 3.5-4.0 ft^3. Any pics?

As for the Alpines, you would be very happy with them. They produce very clean bass. My cousin has 12" type r's in his eclipse and they sound very nice. You may not hang with him in SPL, depending on the model of the Audiobahns, but you will definiatly have him in SQ.

Ive been looking at the ttop box and i have been thinkin about goin 3 10s. What do yaull think is better 2 12's or 3 10's?

Also my cousin has his 2 12s in his trunk. I can hear em coming up the road. Since the camaro doesnt have a trunk will people be able to hear 2 12s from a long distance away in a camaro? I guess what im trying to ask is how well can you hear the bass outside of the car?

Depends on what kind of music you listen to. If you liked rap or hip hop, I'd say 2x12s. But if you listed to rock or metal, then the 3x10s will work better and probably louder.

Don't be fooled by trunk cars. All they do is rattle. An f-body's hatch is actually better because you get some cabin gain from it. If you get some nice equipment and push some decent wattage to your subs, you'll be as loud or louder than most of what you've heard before. ;)
