yeah 1.5, i don't have pics of mine, but I like it, I was afraid it wouldn't look too good cuz I have the 1 din size, if you get 1 din, make sure you get a flush mounting kit for it, cuz the one that came with mine from crutchfield made it stick out half an inch from the outside edge of the trim, so about 1.5 inches out from stock, looked terrible, but now its more flush and look damn good.
BTW, I recommend Kenwood, with the moterized faceplate, I love that I don't have to take mine out if I don't feel like it, it just fips over and black on the other side and with tinted windows, i just looks like I have nothing there from outside.
Then: 1997 3.8L Red Firebird~SOLD!~<p>Now: 2002 Atlantic Blue Dodge Ram 1500
It will look decent if you get a good mounting kit, not the el cheapo ones they give you for free.
Another option is to get a hu that is sized for gm/chrysler (the same size as the factory unit).. I was looking for that, but I only found units from pioneer and audiovox and I don't particularly like either so I probably won't do that..
Anyways, a buddy of mine got an installation kit from the Good Guys that looks really good. I think the brand of it is called Scosche or something. Instead of just being a filler plate that puts a smaller hole for the new hu in the middle of a blank plate, it moved the hole for the new HU up to the top and made a little shelf under it so it does not look obvious that it's a small unit in a hole that was really meant for a much bigger one. It looks really good so that's what I plan on doing once I decide what HU to get.
FYI- Alpine D857 1.5 din is a bad unit, I would recommend it. Hard to find under $400 bucks, but if you don't mind spending the $$$$ than it's woth it... ;)
I recommend anything made be Eclipse!! They have the best SQ around! Great units, I LOVE mine! Much better than my old Pioneers I had!
I suggest that you go to a couple stereo shops and look around. Keep your price range in mind and find something that does what you want it to. Eclipse is pretty expensive stuff, so you might try Kenwood, they're pretty good!
Edit: I'll try and get a pic tonight of my Eclipse 5441.

Wouldn't you just be able to get a 1 din HU and then get an equalizer to go in with it? or do they even make kits for that? or would that just be senseless as advanced as the HU's are these days?
Just curious...
