I dunno what it is about the brake pedal... In my car, there is a ever so quiet popping noise everytime I press the break pedal. You can't hear it when the volume's up, but when it's low, it's very noticable. I haven't had the time or desire to try and diagnose it, so far I've just lived with it, it's not that bad. Your brake pedal problem, however, is much worse. If you do find the link between the pedal and your speaker problem, be sure to post it, it might help me with my problem. Best of luck to ya.My Old Car - 2000 Silver V6 Bird

The replacement-
94 Firebird Formula - 383, TH400, and a big blower
http://community.webshots.com/user/fastblackcar94

Check to see if your signal cable is running anywhere near the brake light lead.
I would be willing to bet that it is, and that it's running paralell to it for at least a few inches.
Just move the signal wire, or get better interconnects... viola, no pop!

Maybe I'm understanding this wrong, but wouldn't that make it turn off when he hits the brake? He's saying when he's driving along (no current through brake wire) the speakers don't work. But when he hits the brakes (current running through the brake wire) they start to work. Either way, I don't think that is enough current to affect the RCA's, and if it was it would induce noise. Not completley shut them off. Also, it would have been there before the torque converter installed, but I could be wrong. Maybe the installers moved some wires for your speakers around?? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding this all together.
