• Nonstop clicking when in accessory mode

I have no idea what this is, but I'm taking my car in on Thursday and I want to have this looked at.

When I turn my key to accessory mode it normally makes a single clicking noise, but randomly it starts clicking about twice a second and doesn't stop until I turn the key off. It sounds like it's coming from the corner of the engine bay closest to the driver. It doesn't seem to affect anything, but the constant "click click click click" noise is annoying.

I don't know what makes it happen, so I havne't been able to reproduce it at the dealer. The first time I ever noticed it was in December of 03 right after I put my speakers in, but that was probably one of the first times I used accessory mode so it probably was unrelated.

Has anyone ever heard the clicking that won't stop? I'm lost as to what it is.

Does it do it ONLY is accessory mode? Will it do it while the engine is running? Only first thing in the morning? Never goes away no matter how long you drive the car? More details please.

It's only in accessory mode. It never does it while the car's running. I've never tried driving the car and seeing if it'll do it again. It's done it in the middle of the day and at night that I know of, but I don't use accessory mode much so it might do it in the morning more. It seems to do it during colder times, but it doesn't get really cold here and it's usually in the garage. It does it repeatedly so I can make it do it again whenever I turn it off and back, but I don't know what makes it go away because I've never tried driving it and testing it. I think I turned it to run once and then back to accessory and it still did it, but I can't remember for sure.
