Anyone that has this this question is to you and to pretty much anyone that knows alot about amps. They say there is enough room under the box for the amp, so that you don't have to mount it on the deck and there will be room in your trunk for some stuff...is this true? And if it is my understanding is that you want your am exposed to as much air as possible, so wouldn't this be a really bad place to put your amp? Wouldn't it overheat, or just not preform as well? So anyone that has it is this accurite...and for those of you that just know systems well is this theroy right or am i just blowing smoke?

Yes, you usually want your amps to have as much air flow as possible. The more cool air flowing across the heatsink, the better. However, whether or not your particular amp will overheat depends on a couple things. Some amps run hotter then others. And of course the harder you're pushing the amp, more heat will be generated. Chances are you'll be ok.

Thanks alot man...appreciate it. If i have a bigger amp running on the same subs it should heat less all other things equal right? Cause i was considering buying a larger more powerful amp at the same time that i bought this box.2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

Also, how hot does your amp run now? Unless it's near burning, you should be alright. If at all possible, try to mount the amp facing up. Heat rises. So if you mount it to the bottom on the box (amp upsidedown), the amp will not take advantage of its heatsink as easily.

with the sub thump box the only way air is going to get to the amp is through the t-top slot. i think it would provide a decent it of cooling. the t-top box doesnt go very deep into the well. the bottom of the box is about where the top of the old t-top holder are.
i honestly wouldnt reccomend it though. could it be done? yes, but is it worth it? nope. are you really goin to put stuff on the flat part? if you do you have to make sure it dont touch the subs and make sure it dont slide around. what if it does slide and punctures one of you subs? what if its just a plastic bag an it lays on the sub and just makes a buzzing sound that will drive you nuts?
these are all things to think about.2002 35th Anniv. Black Camaro M5
Mods: Carsound Cat, SLP Loudmouth, Whisper Lid w/ K&N, J&M LCA\'s, ST Springs, eD Stereo(146.7 dB)
\'88 K1500 305 V8 Auto(Winter)
