  • Looking for advice on what amp to get...

I will be hooking an Infinity 1020W model 10" subwoofer up to the stock HU with an RCA converter...

    Sub specs are
    Nominal Impedance: 4 ohms
    Power Handling: 250WRMS/1000W Peak
    Sensivity 2.83V/1m: 90dB
    Frequency Response: 22Hz - 800 Hz
    Mounting Depth: 5-1/2" (140mm)
    Cut-out Diameter: 9-1/4" (235mm)
    Power Handling RMS: 250W
    Power Handling Peak: 1000W
    Sensitivity: 90dB
    Frequency Response (± 3dB): 22Hz - 800Hz
    Mounting Depth: 5-1/2"
    Impedance: 4 Ohms

It's going in a seal boxed, not that that would make a difference in amp choice. I'm looking for a pretty cheap amp that'll get the job done. If anything, just tell me what ratings the amp needs to be and I'll go from there.

    Thank

well frist off I would stay away from Infinity's subs...they are not that great...2nd that sub can not haddle anywhere near 1000watts ....but if thats the sub you got..you need a amp that is rated a little more than 250 rms....sony's 760 is a good amp for a sub like that...just make sure the amp has at lest a 40 amp fuse in it

Hmm they get pretty damn good reviews for not being a good sub, as you say...

I don't think you can beat that for the price of like $30-40 plus shipping through ebay. Keep in mind I'm on a very tight budget, the 10" box was given to me for free.

their subs are ok..they can move air..they tend to have a higher x-max than other subs in there price range..I didnt' know you were stayingon a budget..if you are..then that would be a good way to go...or try a kicker comp or comp vr(what I have) would be the best

Infinity's arent 'oomph' subs like most look for, theyre more of a crisp, sound quality sub, they definately dont suck, if you're on a budget, check out pioneer premeires, RF HE2s, etc... www.ikesound.com , great prices!
