installing a stock cd player

In my Camaro im switching an old saturn radio with a stock gm cd player.

I thought it would be a straightforward process but when I discussed it with my dad he mentioned many things that I need to find out before installing it. Things like codes and other things that I didnt know what it meant.

I was hoping you guys could help me out:

what do I need to install a stock cd player?

p.s. Keep in mind I only have the bare cd player and the connected Saturn radio.

Codes? Is your Dad talking about the theftlock feature? If so, check out the modifications encyclopedia at the top of the page.

1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first 3 digits of the display code are displayed 2. Write the numbers down.
3. Press the AM FM button, write down the next 3 numbers
4. Call 1-800-537-5140, when asked, enter 202107, press the “button” and enter the 6 digit code from the radio, you will get an unlock code, write it down.
5. Go back to the car, press the HR button and set the first 2 numbers, then press minute button and set the next two last numbers, press AM FM button, SEC should be displayed, turn on radio
To remove customers code, repeat step 5. you should see --- on radio face, the code is now out of the radio.

Is this the "code"? It seems like hacking to me but if thats the way its done then cool.

edit:p.s. will this work with a saturn radio?

That's exactly how the dealer will do it. And if it's truly theftlock that your trying to unlock it will work regardless of where the headunit came from.

I looked in the encyclopedia but I couldn't find anything. It would be helpful if one of you could give me a site where I can find it or if you can just give it to me.

Something like this? GM pretty much uses the same wire colors in all their cars, not sure about Saturn though.
