  • Replacing Monsoon CD Player

just a question concerning the stereo, I will get rid of the Monsoon Cd player unit and buy an aftermarket cd player, I want to keep the rear subwoofers and the speakers in the rear panel (in the trunk), using the Monsoon amplifier, and would like to change the front speakers for aftermarket ones, since one is clearly blown up, and connect them directly to the cd player. Can I do that?? And then what kind of speakers would you use in front? Any brand and model in particular?? I don't want to spend too much $$$ on the speakers though, just a decent sound, don't need too much bass, just something clear and nice to listen to

96firebird311, thank you for the link, though I have already read those infos, and they are for someone who wants to keep the Monsoon head unit. In my case Im gonna replace it by an aftermarket one, so I will be able to put 4 ohms speakers in front and will try to keep the Monsoon amplifier and the woofers in the sails... Does that sound okay, since I don't want to spend too much money on speakers and I'd rather keep the woofers in the back, even if they are not the best quality... In case I don't keep any of the Monsoon speakers, what kind of 6"5 speakers would you put in front and rear?? 2 ways, 3 ways?? What brand??

You can replace the stock Monsoon headunit without any special adapters. There by, using the factory amp to power all the stock speakers. In other words, you can replace the front speakers and they'll never know your running an aftermarket headunit. If you want to power your new speakers off the headunit, that's totally possible too. But you'll have to run the wires yourself. Expect approx 25WRMS per side. Note Rogue Leader's choice on front speakers.
