  • What sub should I get with this amp?

I'm ordering this: http://infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='REF610A'&Ser=REF&Cat=AMP , but I'm not sure which Infinity subwoofer I should get to go along with it.

It's between these 10" subs, as I'm ordering a Stealthbox if I ever put it in.

    http://infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA+PERFECT10.1'&Ser=KAP&Ca t=SUB
    http://infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA+PERFECT10.1D'&Ser=KPE&C at=SUB
    http://infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA+PERFECT10DVQ'&Ser=KPE&C at=SUB
    http://infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='KAPPA+PERFECT10VQ'&Ser=KPE&Ca t=SUB

Can anyone give me an idea of what works and what doesn't? I'm not planning to add additional subs, so it's just going to be one ten.

      02PewterBird,

I didn't know Infinity was still in the amplifier business. I run one of their Beta Digital class D amps that were discontinued a few years back. It looks like you found its predecessor. That amp is going to be rock solid -- you're going to love it.

Now why in the world are you going to mate it to an Infinity sub? Infinity is not a top tier sub manufacturer. Please do me a favor and take a look at Image Dynamics Q series and Elemental Designs A Series. They're both specifically designed for small enclosures like stealthboxes and are regarded as top of the line drivers in the $0-$500 range.

If you have your heart set on Infinity, go with the Perfect10 VQ. It's rated for smaller enclosures.

I want a 10 because I don't need it to be that loud and a 12 won't fit in a driver side stealthbox.

I get a huge discount on Infinity products, so a high end 10 from them would cost less than a low end sub from another company.

I did have access to an MTX offer if I can still find a form at work. Are their subs better? I could save some money and order to the loaded enclosure from them and just use the included sub.

Careful with woofers that use extremely large magnets. It could cause a problem with it not fitting into those stealthboxes. Not saying it will but those boxes have a lot of odd angles inside.

I had the Image Dynamics ID10 v.3. Bought for $112 shipped from Sounddomaing. Can't say enough about it to be honest. By far the best sub I've heard under $150. I've heard the Type R's, Type S, 10W3's, u name it. It doesn't have the output of an Elemental Design A series, but it's SQ is right there with it above 30Hz or so.

Hey bro, i had a 10" kappa perfect before in a custom box and it sounded pretty nice. there are better subs but if you have an in get either that or the kappa. The perfect is slightly clearer than the kappa but with an amp with that high of a THD i dont think you will notice much of a difference unless you really crank it up. And yeah when did infinity get back into the amp market?
