• New System Recommendations...

Alright guys, I'm taking my old system out of my S-10 blazer and putting it into my '01 Camaro. But I think I want to redo the whole thing, go with a real nice set-up. What I have now sounds good, but I'm looking more for show sound. Here's what I got from my Blazer though:

Headunit - JVC El Kameleon

Dash, 4x6 kenwoods... coax
Rear, 6x9's 3-way pioneer coax
Powering that, I have a 400 watt jensen 4 channel amp

Subs - 2 12" Kenwood KFC-W3003, (blue tornado looking speakers) 600 watt RMS a piece in a large sealed MDF box, not seperated.

Powered by a 600 watt 2 channel jensen amp

Yeah, besides the fact it's powered by Jensen, it's really pretty decent sounding.

None the less, I think I'm going to keep the head-unit, wiring all 2-4 gauge, and my subs. What I want now are recommendations for each thing I want to get and under the price. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, and if you have a link for them, or where to get them at cost... post that please. But this is what I want:

Doors, 6.5 or 6-3/4" components. Under or around 200 bucks. - Also if you know where to get a-pillars for the tweeters to fit, let me know, thanks!

Rear seats - 6.5 or 6-3/4" mid-bass subs. I saw some rockford fosgate one's on crutchfield I think for like $129.

Capacitor - I saw on ebay a lightning audio 2.5 farad cap for like 90-95 bucks. Would you recommend one like that, or getting 2 seperate 1 farad caps?

I'm most likely going to leave the hatch speakers empty, since I hear nothing but negative feedback on rear fill-in, that's why I chose 6.5/ 6-3/4" midbass subs for the backseats. If anyone does have recommendations on the hatch speakers though, let me know.

Subs, I'm happy with my subs... just rather get new amps. I'd like to have matching amps if possible, would look nicer. So I wanna get a new 2 channel amp to run my subs, and a new 4 channel amp to run the front component set and rear midbass subs. I wanna spend under 200 if possible for the subs amp, and around 150 for the 4 channel amp. But I'm looking at any possibilities.

And the head-unit, I'd like to keep, but ... I doubt I will since I want the mp3 capability. With that said, anything decent around 200 bucks for a HU? If not around 250?

Also going with a dual subthump box most likely, unless anyone has the dimensions for a decent box back there, I don't mind making one, just not sure on the dimensions.

Thanks guys, all opinions/recommendations welcome. Links help even more.

Head unit - around $200

Components - under $200

Rear 6.5 or 6-3/4" midbass subs, around $150

Capacitor/s - 1 2, or 2.5 farad or 2 1 farads? Wanna stay around 100 bucks for either, probably e-bay...

Amps...
2 Channel around $200
4 Channel around $150-200

Let me know what you guys recommend. Thanks a ton, sorry for the long post.

93firebird or something like that on here has them. he can tell you where to get them. i checked out http://www.adireaudio.com . thats where they have them, but i don't know where to get them at on there. i'm sure he can guide you the right way when he see's this. i'm not sure if you asked for a mp3 player or not. i'd go kenwood if so. i think they look the best, and has a lot of nice stuff. alpine has a really nice EXPENSIVE mp3 player, too. you can plug your cell phone in it!!!! i wish kenwood would come up with that.

Hehehehe I would be happy to link you there! The koda midbasses are unstoppable! $160pair shipped.
If those are a little too expensive, I have heard the Kicker RMB6's are good.
A good component set for $200 is kinda tough. I recommend the Focal 165A set. Or if you can spring the extra cash, the 165K set.
For a new headunit I STRONGLY suggest the Alpine 9811. This headunit will outpreform many headunits that are twice the price. It features 4-channel time correction, 3 sets of 4V RCAs and a motorized faceplate. :D All for under $250. An absolutely unbeatable headunit at an unbeatable price. I challenge anyone to find a better bang for the buck....... it won't happen.
Why a 2-channel amp for the subs? Would a mono amp work? What voice coil config are the subs? in a effort to keep the brand the same for both amps I recommend the Kicker KX400.1 and the Kicker KX600.4. Or if you want something less expensive, try the JBL P80.4 and the JBL BP600.1. That would give you more power to the subs, but only 40WRMS for your other speakers. Your headunit probably puts out roughly 22WRMS. So......
As far as the cap goes, I recommend getting a High Output alternator. They are a little more expensive then a cap, but they actually cure the problem instead of covering it up. I got mine from Irragi Alternator. Send Dominick (owner) an e-mail ( dominick@tds.net ) and tell him I sent ya. He'll hook it up. He offers several different direct bolt-on alts. for the f-bodies. The biggest thing to look for when buying a H/O alternator is the output AT IDLE!! Don't get screwed like I did. Now that I have Dom's alternator, I couldn't be happier!

And now for the grand finale!! :D
Tweeter pods anyone?
