I'm wanting to replace my 6.5 subs in my sail panels. I do have the 500 watt 10 speaker monsoon system. The complete system is still stock. However, I'm lookin to find a set of 6.5's that will produce a little better bass. So if somone could tell me what are some good sets of speakers for the 6.5's with better bass. Thanx guys!!!

If i have 2 12s in my car already is it worth doing these in the sails or should i just take them out? Or is a person decision if i need more bass or not? I am thinking that i will buy them once i have my system all hooked up if i want more bass until i have the money i need for a new amp in the cabin to convert all those speakers to pure treb.2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

Another question is that he said that the problem with the kickers is that that they run 4ohm...does that mean that our stock moonson amp is able to run 2ohm to those subs?2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

the amp doesn't care if the speaker is 4 ohms.. it will still run power to them, but with a 4 ohm load, it will just output less power... so if you're getting 60 watts at 2 ohms, you may get 30-40 watts on a 4 ohm speaker. some 4 ohm speakers will still sound good with the monsoon amp. I have 2 of the JL 6w0 4-ohm subs in there, and they sound great. they are a little deeper than the factory sub, and so it is a tight fit, but they will fit. I got mine from tweeter. they only had 1 in stock, so they had to order the other for me.2001 S.O.M. Firechicken 3.8L V6, auto.

Okay so the stock amp does run at 2 ohm...i am going to try to find a decent priced 2 ohm sub on ebay and if i can't, o well i am just going to have to throw in a 4ohm cause honestly, right now i am running my stocks which are blown, so anything will sound better.2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

Honestly, I've got Jensen's (with the swivel tweeters) in my sail panels. the mid's-high's sound like they have a lot more clarity now. I had to run them directly to the head unit though (factory 10 speaker Non-Monsoon), as I was unable to find anyone that makes a harness to connect it with the 4 wires. I'm debating wiring them to a small'ish amp, in the near future.

JL Audio used to make a 6.5" sub, and sometimes if you search hard you can find it on ebay. That's what I have in my car, and let me just say, they pound like hell!!! I had to put dynamat around them because they hit so hard. I think they are 4 ohms rated at 75 watts rms. Highly recommend them.

The amp isn't running at 2 ohms. The load on the amp is 2 ohms... which means the speakers that you have on there are 2 ohm speakers. the amp doesn't run at a certain ohm level. it just distributes more or less power based on the load (ohms/impedance) that it sees on the output. so with a 4 ohm speaker, it's going to put out less power because it has a higher resistance on the load of the amp. Even with less power, the JL subs will probably sound just as good if not better, because they are designed better and are more efficient than those 2-ohm monsoon speakers.2001 S.O.M.
