  • all right...what's going on?!?!?

well, i am installing my H/U in the camaro and i'm having difficulties.
i wired up the wiring harness without much trouble and hooked it up to my h/u, turned the key on to the on position and it started right up. yea!!! right? nope, whenever the bass hits(sub is not installed yet) on the stock speakers it cuts out right away. so i turned it down and it got much better. i turned it back up a little and it came back but now i had to turn it down even more than last time to make it go away.....and then it all stopped and i didn't get any sound. i then turned the ignition to the off position and back on again, but this time my h/u didn't even come on
so now i turned the ignition back to the off position to think about what was happening....and then the deck started up on me for about 2 sec. and then turned off.....started again about a sec. or two later and then turned off again(this is with the key on the 'off' position') and it continued to do this until i disconected the wireing harness.
i reconnected it and nothing happened, so i turned the key back on and the deck still didn't turn on! maybe i blew a fuse? but how/why?

so this is where i am at now... any suggestions?

also, there on the stock h/u there was a second wiring harness...what do i do with this?!?

thanks for any help/comments/advice in advance!

Sounds like one of two things, either you spliced a wire and it touched metal or another wire. Or else you have wires backwards I.E. +/- backwards. Should be one of those two things, make sure you have the right wires going to each place, and nothing is spliced touching metal or another wire. ;/

My buddy had a CRX that had the exact same stuff happened to it.. just like whitelightning said, i'm betting you've got some wires touching.

I believe the second wiring harness is for the CD changer. Even if you don't have the stock CD changer, the car still comes pre-wired for one.
