  • Problem w/ new CD player

I just had an Alpine installed yesterday and I am getting some static down by my drivers side speaker. It gets faster when I accelerate but It doesnt get louder. I think it might be interacting w/ my spark plugs/ignition? Has anyone had anything like this and what did u do about it?

Everyone on EFA is saying that it is a problem between the spark plug/alternator/wires intereacting...if that makes any sense! We are going to take my car back and tell him we either want him to fix it or we want a refund for a shatty job. Im gonna have a few people look at it first though.

I just did a sytem install and had the same problem. I had to ground my head unit to body, this can be accomplished by just removing the shift knob and gear indicator panel on the center console if you have an auto, the reason being is that amps are grounded to body vs. using the original ground in the wiring harness.

I forgot to add in something on my last reply, once you get the shift knob and console piece removed and located your ground from your head unit, if you have a nice eyelet type terminal that is not to big or a good twist and hook of the wire will work, pick a bolt /////!!!!!NOT ONE THAT IS CONNECTED THE AIRBAG SENSOR OR THE AIRBAG SENSOR'S GROUND!!!!!!\\\\\\\ Brush away any tarnish or debris w/a small wire brush and reinstall the bolt. Check the system immediately after you've regrounded the head unit. If the problem presist's check your grounds on your amps and capacitors if your running those.

Seems weird as the interference is only coming out of one speaker. Nevertheless you should always use another ground when installing an aftermarket radio.

As the after market radio consumes more wattage than the factory there fore needs a more solid ground.

Cut the black ground wire long enough to ground to a piece of metal somewhere near the radio. You want to sand down the area down to the bare metal, then you want to use a 1/2'' self tapping screw and put that baby in and hopefully it will cure your noise.
