hey! i think i got jewed. the monsoon package on a 96 camaro has 6 speakers right? two up front two in the back seat and two on eather side of the hatch compartment. Mine has one in the hatch...5 speakers. also i saw a picture of a monsoon headunit and it was huge, my stereo and the hole in my dash are normal sized headunits. (i.e. the standard size for most cars) W.T.F.

There was no monsoon system in the 1996 camaros. It had the Delco/Bose headunit and the 5 speakers like you said. That one speaker in the back is supposed to be the sub for the Bose unit if the car came equipped with it. What headunit do you have right now? If it looks like a normal size DIN hole, then the previous owner probably installed an aftermarket unit. If it's the 1.5 DIN, oversized hole(about the size as the monsoon), then you have the stock player.
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?

Its a 95 with delco bose on the speaker(rear sub)
I have a kenwood and i think its the normal size.
is there a name for it besides "monsoon"?

poopy i meant 96...dang you think i would know my own year. hey also is it easier/cheaper to replace that sub with a new box and sub or to put one in the passenger side (subthumps stealth enclosure)

I think the monsoons were put into the camaros starting in 1998. There were originally "200 watt" peak systems. One of those years, they changed it to 500 watts(I think 1999 or 2000). Either way, they're kinda crappy, but OK for a stock unit. The delco and monsoon headunits are the same for the most part. The monsoon system adds the amp that powers the back speakers. THe front speakers in a monsoon system are still powered by the headunit. I don't know what else to call a monsoon system other than a monsoon. It says it on the headunit.

As for changing the sub, it would definitely be easier/cheaper to replace the stock one with a stock one. A lot of guys sell used ones that thhey take out when they install a custom system in their cars. Of course, it won't sound as good as an aftermarket setup. Depends on what you want.

no, i have the delco bose sytem and the single rear sub...i want to know if it would be easier/cheaper to pull it out and replace wiht like a stealth box or to just put a 10"sub on the passenger side via stealth box

Sub thumps enclosure probably easier to do, but I would tend to think that it would cost more, since it is a custom enclosure. A sub and box you can custom make or buy for a little bit less I think. The wiring for each would be about equal...I'm not sure what the stock amp puts out though and whether or not its impedance/resistance rating matches that of the new sub you want to put in. I'm sure there have been a few topics about this, perhaps even in the stereo/audio/electronics FAQ in this section.

i was at the local audio store and after reading some posts and talking to them i want the rockford fosgate 201s 2 channel 600 w. amp
                      and the stage 2 p2 10 s4 10" subfrom R.F. also.
I can get both for 200 hundred on ebay(shipped)
but then the box is another 112. and thats just too much...good price on the amp and sub.. does anyone have a passenger side stealth enclosure they want to sell me???
