  • Easier/cheaper manual fan switch mod...

Nto sure if anyone ever wrote this up...

I am just thinking it out in my head after doing the other mod. Its not an ideal write up but if you did the other mod you know what I am talking about.

    parts

    1 2 point toggle switch
    2 wire tap ins
    some wire
    (optional)
    -more wire
    -LED
    -another wire tap in

From the "off" part of the toggle switch, run a wire tap in to the "high" wire under the hood, dark blue I think. Use a wire tap in and connect the wire from the switch. Then on the "on" side of the switch run it to a wire tap in to a ground(cigarette lighter wire?)

    Optional
Use the wire tap in on the power part of the cigarette lighter, attach that wire to the LED, attach the other part of the LED to the "off" part of the 2 point toggle switch.

How it works, flip switch, light turns on, fan turns on high. Difference between this and the normal fan mod switch floating around the web, you use a cheaper switch, and you only have to mods manually, high, and off, instead of high low and off. I figure most of us use it at the track and will likely use the fan on high.

hehe I know that... I made mine of of those instructions actually...

one I lsited i differnet less parts less confusion, and cheaper..

      1 common on/off toggle switch
      1 led
      3 wire taps
      some wire.

even checked last night parts are availible at walmart or a car store, no need for radioshack.

you don't really want to do that, as you need to have the low speed fans on, when the highs come on due to the way it is wired from the factory.

Try it with just the high wire, and then try it wired to both high and low. you can hear the difference in the fan speed. (at least on the ls1's you can)

not to mention both of these 'can' throw ses lights or store codes, as they show the computer a direct short to ground. although most v6's are fairly tollerant of this mod, and don't throw codes.
