the only reason I sugegsted the remote radar is because I hate having a cluttered dash, I got mine on my sun visor now with the wire hidden, but Id rather it somewhere else

sensors in bumpers , only reason for that is if radars are illegal in your state... Reason being... The higher the radar sits, The better signal it can get from the radar gun. Yeah a windhsield because its slanted takes away a small fraction of the signal and diverts it... but the higher the better. Also the pieces go through wear and tear from normal use/ weather. Which means to get optimum performance. you will have to get a new one ever so often. Do what i did.... get the valentine one. If a new model comes out... Sell it on ebay and you will get nearly what u paid for it. The buy the brand new one... Iv seen used Valentine ones on eBay go for MORE than a brand new one

Actually having the antenna on the bumper or the windshield doesn't really matter. I don't know where you get that having it in the bumper lowers the the chance of the radar hitting it. At 1,000' the radar beam width is approx 250' which means you can put it anywhere on the car and it will pick up the signal. I think you are thinking about laser. It's better to have the laser directly in the center of the windshield, but if you get nailed with laser, your screwed anyways.
As for the Valentine one, I've heard it's way over priced, and gets a lot of falses. I've read this from many difference sources. Not that it's a bad detector, but there is better ones out there for that kind of money. I've heard that Escort and Bell have the two best detectors on the market right now. If I were you, I would get the Escort Shifter ZR3(Their laser jammer) and their Passport 8500 radar detector.<a href=\"http://pics.projectpredator.com/thumbnails.php?album=16\" target=\"_blank\">2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT</a> 1 of 701<br />ET : TBD<br />But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun! i had a bel 9xx and hrmmm now it dosnt work for ****
when it was new it saved me a couple times now about the only thing i seen it pick up good was a laser signal one time when it was dark but by then its to late anyways just stoped me from speeding up but it dosnt pick up K or KA for **** now
have a couple friends with the valintine and let me tell you its reallllllllllll nice and works realllllllllllllllll good
even when it was working better it still sucked i got pulled over 1 or 2 times with it
if the valintine saves you once it just payed for it self because to keep the ticket off your record (like me when i was 80 in a 40) it cost me over 450 bucks in the end for that ticket alone

Actually its about 200' and a Laser is about 100' wide. And it will depend because if there is another car blocking it there is a better chance of the radar bounce getting to you detector if it is on your windshield versus down near the ground.
As for the Escort Shifter ZR3...don't get it..get the B10 Twin Blinder. Much better made and has been show in several different tests to jam laser from 2000' to 10'.<a href=\"http://www.onid.orst.edu/~waltejam/\" target=\"_blank\">98 Bright Red Camaro</a><br />Too many mods to list....check my website

Laser 100' Wide? I don't know where the hell you are getting your info, but you need to start looking somewhere else. Laser is only about 3' wide at 1000'
http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleid=4096
http://about-the-web.com/shtml/reports/07-050.shtml (last paragraph)
http://www.netspace.net.au/~smack/traffic/laser.html
I'm sure I could find more. With radar beam 250' in diameter or even 200' as you say, your gonna get a signal no matter where you put the detector. Think how big 250' is. Then theres the fact the radar is going to be bouncing off signs, the road, and pretty much anything else.
And the review I read about the blinder, it didn't really give it much praise,
<blockquote>quote:</font><hr>The Blinder M-10 Twin jammed three of our five laser guns acceptably well but failed entirely to jam the Laser Atlanta gun and it could reduce the LTI Ultralyte LR's range by only 35 feet. Both of these guns had the latest anti-jamming software and it appears that Blinder may be a bit behind the technology curve. Until they catch up, we'd advise taking a pass on this model.<hr></blockquote>

From what I understand radar has a beam that is 12 degrees wide which translates into about 204 ft. Last time I checked laser had a beam of 6 degrees. Which translates into 103 ft wide. Maybe the newer models have better focusing ability that the models of old.<a href=\"http://www.onid.orst.edu/~waltejam/\" target=\"_blank\">98 Bright Red Camaro</a><br />Too many mods to list....check my website

I think you two are talking about two different things.... before you go around and tell other people how their info is bull**** you should make sure you're on the same page.
I think he was talking about not the radar gun of the police (which the article you linked to was) but the radar detector radar.2002 Silver Metallic A4 Firebird - All Options
