• Equalizer Help!!!!!!!

This is on my factory Firebird HU...the slide for the 1.6k range is not working right. It either doesnt work at all, or occasionally it will just turn itself on at the highest setting. Is there a way I can clean this or something?

TIA
Adam

Yeah...but its just that one slide!

And my biggest problem with aftermarket...is that no one has made one that actually looks good in our cars.

The pot (potentiometer, IE slider) is broken.

Take the unit apart, desolder the pot, and solder a new one in. It's an easy fix...when you open it you'll be able to tell by the other pots what size and resistance you'll need

Sweet thanks man. Where can I buy some pot?

Do they sell it at the GM dealership?

I doubt Radioshack will have it.

Try www.jameco.com or www.mouser.com

one of the two will have it ;)

www.allelectronics.com might even have it, they're surplus so much cheaper

It might be http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...0KD&type=store

But, you won't really know without taking the slider off first.

If you've never done anything with electronics before, it might be better to just take it somewhere to be fixed. It's easy to get to, easy to take out, but ID'ing the part is a little difficult for a newbie.
